DISCOVERY LAND (SUNDAYS)
Update! We're reopening classrooms for our birth-3 years kids! In-person Discovery Land, is now open for birth-6th grade on a first-come, first-served basis on Sundays at 8:00 and 10:00 a.m. DL at Home will continue for those families who are not able or ready to attend in person, available online every Saturday night starting at 7:00 p.m.
Reservations are not needed to attend Sunday Discovery Land. Classes will be filled first-come, first-serve. Check-in begins 20 minutes before DL starts. Rooms are set up to automatically account for social distancing. Reservations for the main worship service are still required.
We will be using the Church Center App to manage check-ins. Before you attend DL for the first time, please download the Church Center app and make sure your information is accurate. Find detailed instructions to download the app and create or update your profile and household information at appletonalliance.org/updatemyinfo.
SUNDAY CHECK-IN AND DROP-OFF STEPS
STEP 1: Pre Check-in on Church Center
Go to your Church Center app and click “Check-in” at the bottom, Select Sunday Discovery Land, click the child attending, and then their class. PRO TIP: You can do this step in the parking lot, but your spot is not reserved until the name tags are printed.
STEP 2: Check-In and print name tags. This step is the ticket to securing a spot in DL.
Walk up to any check-in station, located near the entrance to DL (Birth-Kindergarten) and near the gym lobby (1st-6th grade). Scan the code from your phone to print out name tags. You will receive 2 nametags for each child. One nametag goes on your child and the other is given to your child’s leader when you drop them off. Kids younger than Kindergarten will continue to receive wristbands at their check-in location for Birth-3 and Preschool in addition to their nametags. Seating is limited and offered on a first-come, first-serve basis. Check-in opens 20 minutes before the start of the service.
STEP 3: Go to the meeting location
Drop your child off at their classroom or meeting location. Then, head to the worship center or SMC for service. When the worship service is done, you will pick up your kids in their classroom. Maps will be provided so you know where your child will be. We ask that only one family member stand in line to pick up children from their classroom when possible. This will help create additional space in the hallways.
B-3 kids will go to their normal classrooms. Their nametag should indicate which classroom your child is in. (Example: Crawlers A)
Preschool kids will go to the normal Preschool area. Please know that there will be limited rooms open for PK kids.
All 5K students will meet under the treehouse.
1st-6th graders will check-in outside the gym. Park in the West parking lot (Xcel Sports side) and enter through the West Main Entrance.
Social Distancing and Masks
Discovery Land will follow the AAC standards (based on the state's requirements) for wearing masks. Teachers will take it off their masks while presenting only as they feel comfortable. We do know that some children are unable to wear a mask for health reasons, we respect that decision of the parent. We will do our best to keep social distancing and cleanliness a priority in our Discover Time activities and classrooms. Discovery Land will be sanitized between each service to help keep our facility as clean as possible. Birth-3 years safety protocols vary slightly by age. Contact Laura Page for details.
Serve in Discovery Land
It takes many volunteers to make DL possible on Sunday mornings. Thank you to all who share their time and talents! If you are interested in serving in this ministry now or in the future, please fill out an interest form.
Our Promise to Parents
This is all new and different, we get it! But what will never change is that we will have an energetic time of worship, fun Discover Times, exciting Bible lessons, and hang out with incredible volunteers who love, care, and coach your kids to become resilient disciples for Jesus Christ.
DL AT HOME
Available Saturdays | 7:00 p.m. | Watch anytime
DL at Home will still be available online. Participate in weekly worship and Bible lessons by watching the video and following along with the provided resources.
Awana Family Experience (In-Person)
Tuesdays | 6:30 p.m.
Phase One of Awana will be a Kindergarten through 6th grade family experience in the worship center that will include an exciting family game, a Bible lesson, and worship songs! Following this experience, you'll find listening stations throughout the building to recite Awana verses and pick up awards. As you leave the building, your students will receive a snack to enjoy on your way home.
STEP 1: Register for Awana
If you have not registered your child for Awana yet this year, registration is half price. Registering your child for Sparks (grades K-2), or T&T (grades 3-6) will give you access to the Tuesday-night in person Awana Family Experience or Thursday night Awana Connect Online. After registration is confirmed, you will pick up your child's supplies at the Awana admin stations in the hub on Tuesday nights. Note, Cubbies registration is closed for this school year.
STEP 2: Reserve Seats Weekly
During Phase One, families will reserve seats in the Worship Center each week. Reservations will open Wednesdays by noon for the following week. Assigned seating will help accommodate social distancing. Please note your section and seat numbers, prior to arriving. If you forget, we will have a station in the middle of the hub to help you.
STEP 3: When You Arrive
On Tuesday evenings, families will enter the worship center together and find their seats. Friends are welcome, please reserve a seat for each additional student. Parents are responsible for and must stay with their students throughout the night.
Awana Connect (Online)
Thursdays | 6:30-7:30 p.m.
Awana Connect Online will be available via Zoom. Kids Kindergarten through 6th grade can log on, connect with a leader, and say their Awana verses. Awards can be picked up at Appleton Alliance Church on Tuesday nights. Watch your email for the Zoom link!
