Discovery Land will open December 6, 2020. Please review the complete plan below.

DISCOVERY LAND (SUNDAYS)

Reopening

Our plan is to reopen in phases. In phase one, we will open for children preschool-6th grade for both services—8:00 and 10:00 a.m. DL at Home will continue for those families who are not able or ready to attend in person, available online every Saturday night starting at 7:00 p.m.

Registration

To create a safe environment for our children to all learn and worship together, you will need to register your children for a specific service time. Registration is completely free and opens the Sunday one week prior. Rooms are set up to automatically account for social distancing.

WEEKLY REGISTRATION STEPS

STEP 1: DL Registration
Select a time and reserve a spot for each child in Discovery Land. We recommend you DO THIS STEP FIRST, prior to booking your seats in the main worship center. This will help determine what hour you will attend, as classroom sizes are limited. For this reason, we do also recommend you reserve your spot early in the week.

NOTE: Until we build a solid volunteer base, Birth-3 will only be open for leaders kids. Any volunteer signed-up for Sunday morning can register kids for Birth-3. If you’re not a volunteer, we recommend you view Sunday service in the SMC, which will be a family-friendly environment.

STEP 2: Worship Service Registration
Next, reserve your seats for the in-person worship service in the main worship center or SMC.

Check-in

We will be using the Church Center App to manage check-ins. Before you attend DL for the first time, please download the Church Center app and make sure your information is accurate. Find detailed instructions to download the app and create or update your profile and household information at appletonalliance.org/updatemyinfo.

SUNDAY CHECK-IN AND DROP-OFF STEPS

STEP 1: Check-in on Church Center
Go to your Church Center app and click “Check-in” at the bottom, Select Sunday Discovery Land, click the child attending, and then their class. PRO TIP: You can do this step in the parking lot!

STEP 2: Print name tags
Walk up to any check-in station, located near the entrance to DL (Birth-Kindergarten) and near the gym lobby (1st-6th grade). Scan the code from your phone to print out name tags. You will receive 2 nametags for each child. One nametag goes on your child and the other is given to your child’s leader when you drop them off. Kids younger than Kindergarten will continue to receive wristbands at their check-in location for Birth-3 and Preschool in addition to their nametags.

STEP 3: Go to the meeting location
Drop your child off at their classroom or meeting location. Then, head to the worship center or SMC for service. When the worship service is done, you will pick up your kids in their classroom. Maps will be provided so you know where your child will be. We ask that only one family member stand in line to pick up children from their classroom when possible. This will help create additional space in the hallways.

Meeting Locations

Preschool
Preschool kids will go to the normal Preschool area. Please know that there will be limited rooms open for PK kids.

5K Kids
All 5K students will meet under the treehouse.

Grades 1-6
1st-6th graders will check-in outside the gym. Park in the West parking lot (Xcel Sports side) and enter through the West Main Entrance.

Social Distancing and Masks

Discovery Land will follow the AAC standards (based on the state's requirements) for wearing masks. Teachers will take it off their masks while presenting only as they feel comfortable. We do know that some children are unable to wear a mask for health reasons, we respect that decision of the parent.  We will do our best to keep social distancing and cleanliness a priority in our Discover Time activities and classrooms. Discovery Land will be sanitized between each service to help keep our facility as clean as possible.

Serve in Discovery Land

It takes many volunteers to make DL possible on Sunday mornings. Thank you to all who share their time and talents! If you are interested in serving in this ministry now or in the future, please fill out an interest form

Our Promise to Parents

This is all new and different, we get it! But what will never change is that we will have an energetic time of worship, fun Discover Times, exciting Bible lessons, and hang out with incredible volunteers who love, care, and coach your kids to become resilient disciples for Jesus Christ.
